Energetic Hygiene

You Deserve to Feel Clear and Grounded

Learning to tend to your energy is one of the most empowering things you can do. It helps you stay connected to your body, trust your intuition, and move through life with more grace, responding rather than reacting.

Energetic hygiene is the practice of maintaining a balanced, positive energy field by cleaning, protecting, and restoring your personal energy. Similar to physical hygiene, it involves daily habits—such as grounding, visualization, and cleansing rituals—to prevent absorbing negative emotions or fatigue from others, promoting overall emotional and spiritual well-being.

Key Aspects of Energetic Hygiene:

  • Cleansing: Releasing stagnant or accumulated, non-personal energy through techniques like taking salt baths, using smoke (smudging with sage/palo santo), or engaging in physical movement.
  • Protection: Creating a "shield" or boundary to prevent energy depletion. Methods include visualizing a bubble of light, setting intentions, or using crystals. Please note you are all that is so you don't really need protection.
  • Grounding: Connecting with the Earth to stabilize your energy, often achieved by walking barefoot on grass or sand.

Daily Practices for Maintenance:

  • Morning Intention Setting: Start the day by affirming that only your own energy is allowed to stay with you.
  • Evening Release: Use water (showering/bathing) to wash away the day's stress and return anyone else's energy.
  • Visualization: Picture white, pink, or gold light filling your body to cleanse and protect your aura.
  • Environmental Cleansing: Regularly clean your living or work space with sound, spray, or smoke to remove stagnant energy.
  • Visualize sending any energy that doesn’t belong to you back to the person who owns it, or imagine releasing it to create something new like wildflowers.
  • Here are some energetic restoration practices you might try:
  • Meditate or do a Yoga Nidra. These are inherently restorative ways to slow down, ground in our bodies.
  • Try movement like Qi Gong, dance, walking or Yin yoga. Consider what type of movement would feel restorative in any given moment.
  • Get a good night’s sleep or take a nap. Sleep is both restorative and a natural energy reset.
  • Take a bath with Epsom or Himalayan Sea Salt. Reclining in warm water with healing salt…need I say more? Set the mood by lighting a candle.
  • Smudge or spray. Use sage, cedar, palo santo, or an energy-clearing mist to cleanse your space and field.
  • Breathe. Take slow, deep breaths into the areas that feel heavy, and exhale with the intention of releasin
  • Elemental or sacred geometry. Call in the Earth element or visualize sacred geometric shapes forming around you.
  • Wear or diffuse essential oils
  • (Lemongrass, Rosemary, tea tree, pine, hyssop)
  • Energetic dusting- using your hands to sweep away any accumulated energy over your body
  • Halotherapy (salt rooms)
  • Meditation
  • EFT (tapping)
  • Visualization ( visualize white, pink, or gold light cleansing and clearing your energy)
  • Walking on grass, sand, dirt
  • Forest
  • bathing
  • Cutting energetic cords and emotional ties
  • Being in fresh air and
  • sunshine or water

Energetic hygiene can be practiced in small moments:

  • At the grocery store
  • Before meeting loved ones for dinner
  • While scrolling social media
  • During a work meeting
